China promoting health co-op with Switzerland, Japan

China will further promote pragmatic health cooperations with Switzerland and Japan, especially in key areas such as healthy aging, medical tourism and child care.

A team led by Wang Pei'an, deputy minister in charge of the National Health and Family Planning Commission, just finished their week-long visit to the two countries on July 5.

In Switzerland, Wang met with Alain Berset, minister of the Federal Department of Home Affairs, and held talks with Pascal Strupler, director of the Federal Office of Public Health.

Wang said, the health cooperation between China and Switzerland has been produced great results over the past few years, and he hopes that more pragmatic exchanges can be conducted in the future in key areas, one of which is healthy aging.

The Chinese delegation paid a visit to intuitions that are working on healthy aging, such as the University Hospital of Basel and a Berne nursing home for elderly people with dementia.

In Japan, Wang met with Noriko Furuya, state minister of Health, Labour and Welfare of Japan and discussed the cooperation in healthy aging and child care.

Wang also attended a seminar on medical tourism between China and Japan and exchanged ideas on the development of the industry.

During the visit to Japan, the delegation also visited the child-care center of Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, the elderly care center of Nichiigakkan and Aizawa Hospital.
